ON THE CREDIBILITY OF EXPERT AND SPECIALIST FINDINGS IN CRIME INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVING MINORS

During the investigative proceedings involving minors, the question of evidence evaluation is particularly acute. The article describes the main problems and their resolution algorithm. The special attention is given to the evaluation of evidence obtained by using specialised expertise. The differences between an expert's and a specialist's opinion are given. The issue of evaluation and priority of expert and specialist's findings is raised. Purpose: to develop general forensic recommendations on the criminological support of minors in verbal investigative actions to ensure a high level of reliability of their testimony and to develop recommendations for the effective non-verbal investigative proceedings. Methods: empirical methods of comparison and description, theoretical methods of formal and dialectical logic. Results: gaps in the legal regulation of the minors’ participation in investigative proceedings were identified, and criminalistic recommendations that ensure the reliable evidence from minors involved in criminal procedure were formulated.
