PENSION RIGHTS INTO HALF: STRONG FAMILIES SUPPORT

The Russian Federation actively supports the family and maternity. According to the law the spouses' property is the marital property, so that the income received is shared into half. However, during the period of child-rearing, a woman is deprived of the possibility to work full-time and earn her pension rights. As a result, her pension will be lower than her husband’s. At a young age citizens do not think about it, understanding comes to old age when time is already lost for «earning» a decent pension. The study analyses how to help women form their pension rights while caring for and raising a child. The comparative-legal method of the research helps to study the legal practice of Germany: how and what the law regulates in these situations. It is proposed to introduce this positive experience in our country. Such a fair approach will be an additional defense of motherhood and family values.
